Adventure With a Destination
There is a fear underneath all of this, and it is worth naming, because it is the real reason the list never gets shorter.
The fear is that having a direction will make you into someone else. Someone with a spreadsheet. Someone who says no to things. Someone considerably less fun than you currently are.
It will not, and the reason is worth understanding.
A destination does not remove the detours
Think about any trip you have genuinely loved. It had a destination. That is what made it a trip rather than being lost.
And almost certainly the best parts were not on the plan. The detour, the wrong turn, the place you stayed an extra day. Those things were good precisely because there was a route to depart from. A detour requires a road.
Without a destination, everything is equally arbitrary, which sounds like freedom and feels, after a while, like drifting.

A reason to say yes faster
Most of your hesitation is not about the opportunity. It is about not knowing whether it fits. When you know where you are headed, the good ones become obvious immediately, and you commit faster than you used to.
Permission to say no without guilt
Saying no to something genuinely interesting is hard when you have no reason beyond capacity. It is easy when you have a reason beyond preference.
Detours that count as detours
The wonderful unplanned thing stays wonderful. It just stops being indistinguishable from all the other unplanned things, and you can enjoy it without wondering whether it is another beginning that goes nowhere.
The distinction that matters
Your North Star is not a plan and it is not a goal. It is the reason underneath them, and it is deliberately wide. It rules out very little. What it does is turn a hundred equally appealing options into a smaller number that are pointed somewhere, which is the only kind of choosing that has ever worked on a person like you.
You can go anywhere. You just cannot go everywhere at once.
